Coldplay gigs to offer new songs
Chris Martin
Coldplay's fourth album will be the follow-up X&Y, released last year
Rock group Coldplay are to premiere a host of new songs during "intimate" concerts on a tour of Latin America.

They will visit Argentina, Brazil and Chile in February and Mexico in March to play "much smaller capacity venues" than those on their recent world tour.

The band said they were "keen" to try out the material they had been writing for their forthcoming fourth album.

And they wanted to return to the area after "a phenomenal response" during their last visit in 2003, they added.

Coldplay's tour will begin with three gigs at the Espacio Riesco in the Chilean capital of Santiago on 14, 15 and 16 February.

The band move on to Buenos Aires in Argentina, for concerts at the Gran Rex on 20, 21 and 22 February.

Via Funchal in the Brazilian city of Sao Paulo will stage a further three performances, on 26, 27 and 28 February.

And then there is one show by the group, scheduled for 3 March, at the Grand Auditorium in Mexico City.

Tickets go on sale on Monday, except those for the Mexico City concert, which will be available from Wednesday.
