Singer Jamelia undergoes surgery
Jamelia has two young daughters
Pop star Jamelia is recovering in hospital following a hernia operation.

Manager Jonathan Shalit said the singer collapsed "doubled up in pain" while filming for a music programme in Spain.

She rushed back to the UK where she was diagnosed with an umbilical hernia before undergoing micro surgery at St Mary's hospital in London, he added.

Jamelia, whose hits include Superstar, hopes to recover in time to perform with Meat Loaf at the Royal Variety Performance on 4 December.

Work ethic

Mr Shalit said the singer was told her condition was hereditary and was also related to the after-effects of having children.

He said Jamelia, who has two young daughters, had been in pain before flying to Spain but was determined to carry on with the trip.

"Her view is that you are lucky enough to do this job so you have to just get on and do it," he said.
