Farrah Fawcett
Farrah Fawcett said she was optimistic about the future
Charlie's Angel actress Farrah Fawcett has confirmed she is undergoing treatment for cancer.

A spokesman for the 59-year-old actress did not detail the type of cancer but said it was recently diagnosed and involves a fast-growing tumour.

In a statement she said she was prepared to overcome the problem.

Fawcett was recently reunited with Charlie's Angels co-stars Jaclyn Smith and Kate Jackson at a tribute to the late TV mogul Aaron Spelling.

In a statement she said: "I am determined to bite the bullet and fight the fight while going through the next six weeks of cutting edge, state-of-the-art treatment.

"I should be able to return to my life as it was before."

Fawcett starred in just one series of Charlie's Angels but made guest appearances in later programmes.

She has since appeared in a number of movies and mini-series, including Spin City and The Guardian, securing three Emmy nominations.
