Shatner set to host US gameshow

Former Star Trek actor William Shatner is try his hand at being a gameshow host on US TV, according to reports.

The Emmy-winning star is to front Show Me the Money for ABC, according to trade magazine The Hollywood Reporter.

Contestants will have the chance to win millions of dollars by answering trivia questions but will also risk losing everything they have accumulated.

Shatner, 75, is best known for playing Captain James T Kirk in the original Star Trek TV series.

He has also starred in US legal TV dramas The Practice and Boston Legal, winning Emmys for both.

Shatner recently reprised his role as Captain Kirk for a computer game version of Star Trek.

His other TV roles include the lead in TJ Hooker, which went on to become a hit series.
