Sandler's Click tops UK cinemas

Kate Beckinsale and Adam Sandler star in Click
Kate Beckinsale and Adam Sandler's romantic comedy Click has topped the UK and Ireland box office chart, taking 1.79m over the weekend.

Sandler plays an overworked architect who finds he can fast-forward and rewind his life. Baywatch actor David Hasselhoff stars as his boss.

Animated Little Red Riding Hood tale Hoodwinked is second, taking 1.76m.

Oliver Stone's World Trade Center came third, taking 1.66m on its first weekend in British cinemas.

Hoodwinked's figures include 405,165 from preview screenings in the week leading up to Friday's opening.

Last week's leading film, Children of Men, dropped to number four in the Screen International chart, taking 957,119.

The Queen, starring Helen Mirren, fell from number two to number five, with receipts of 803,372.

Urban music movie Life & Lyrics - about a south London DJ battling with his rivals from the north of the capital - made its debut at number 12 in the chart.
