Winfrey's spokeswoman said she has no political aspirations
US TV chat show host Oprah Winfrey has said her legal team overreacted in its response to a fan promoting her as a potential presidential candidate.

"I feel flattered by it," she told AP. "My lawyers overreacted, I think, by sending him a cease-and-desist order."

Retired maths teacher Patrick Crowe, of Missouri, has been campaigning for a Winfrey presidential run for years.

Last month the star's lawyers demanded he remove her photo from his website and a book he is selling.

Winfrey has no political aspirations, according to a spokeswoman.

The 52-year-old talk show host, one of America's wealthiest women, launched a radio station this week on US satellite broadcaster XM.

The station - entitled Oprah and Friends - features a discussion show presented by Winfrey and best friend Gayle King.

The Oprah Winfrey Show has been America's highest-rated talk show for 18 consecutive series.
