Boney M musical opens in West End
Daddy Cool
The musical is on at the Shaftsbury Theatre in London
Daddy Cool, a musical based on the Euro-disco band Boney M's music, has received its West End premiere.

It stars former EastEnders star Michelle Collins, rap group So Solid Crew's Harvey and Popstars: The Rivals contestant Javine.

The plot is based on Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, adapted for contemporary London, where members of two rival gangs fall in love.

Boney M founder Frank Farian is producing the 3m show.

Rivers Of Babylon, Brown Girl In The Ring, Mary's Boychild and, of course, Daddy Cool are just some of the band's most well known hits which have been included in the show.

Collins has been taking singing lessons to prepare for her role at the Shaftesbury Theatre.

Since leaving EastEnders nine years ago she has starred in a host of television series, including 2,000 Acres Of Sky and Ella and the Mothers.
