Nashville stars break tour record
Faith Hill and Tim McGraw
The pair have been married for 10 years
Nashville couple Faith Hill and Tim McGraw have broken the record for the highest-grossing country music tour.

The pair sold $89m (£47.4m) worth of tickets on their recently completed Soul2Soul II tour which took in 55 cities across North America.

The previous record was held by Kenny Chesney, who raked in $62m (£33m) for his tour last year.

Hill has been nominated for female vocalist of the year at the Country Music Association Awards.

Shortlisted

The musical couple are shortlisted for vocal duo of the year at the awards, which take place on 6 November.

Tour industry magazine Pollstar said McGraw and Hill's tour is the top-grossing North American tour of all musical genres so far this year.

But Pollstar's editor, Gary Bongiovanni, said he expects the Rolling Stones to eclipse the country stars and finish the year with takings of more than $100m (£53.2m).

The veteran band began a two-month stadium tour in Boston on 20 September.

McGraw and Hill, who have three daughters together, met on tour in 1996 and were married the same year.
