A handbag belonging to actress Lindsay Lohan has been found after it was reported stolen at Heathrow Airport.

The Mean Girls star contacted police after she noticed the orange Hermes bag was missing from her luggage trolley.

But the bag, which police said had "a quantity of jewellery" inside it, was found in the airport car park by a member of the public.

"We have not yet established what, if anything, is missing," said a Metropolitan Police spokeswoman.

The actress is expected to pick up the bag later on Friday. No-one has been arrested.

Lohan was travelling from Italy, where she has been promoting her new film Bobby at the Venice Film Festival.

In the movie, which has been well-received by critics, she plays a guest at the hotel in which Robert Kennedy was assassinated in 1968.
