Fans flock to The Beatles' hotel
The Beatles
The Beatles performed three days of concerts in Japan
A hotel where The Beatles stayed during their only visit to Japan is giving people the chance to view their suite.

The Beatles stayed at the Tokyo Hilton - now the Capitol Tokyu Hotel - while playing a number of concerts in 1966.

"We have done our best to restore the presidential suite to how it looked when the Beatles stayed," said the hotel's Michael Miyauchi.

Events are taking place across Japan to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Fab Four's concerts.

Cultural impact

Beatles cover bands are battling to be voted the best and thousands of fans have visited an exhibition of photos in Tokyo taken during their three days of concerts.

Although The Beatle's visit was brief, the band had a huge cultural impact.

"They exuded a new approach that we Japanese had never experienced before," said Keiko Iwai, 65.

"Their hairstyle was so popular, their fashion sense. I remember watching the movies, too."
