DJ Moyles is voted off X Factor

Radio 1 DJ Chris Moyles has been voted off X Factor: Battle of the Stars, leaving two celebrities in the final.

His performance of Otis Redding's Hard to Handle won plaudits from the judges on the ITV show, but the DJ failed to win over the voting public.

"I'm quite surprised actually," said Moyles of his exit, which makes him the seventh celebrity act to be voted off.

Former EastEnders star Lucy Benjamin and England and Bath rugby player Matt Stevens will compete in Monday's final.

Moyles earlier said that he did not believe he would get so far in the competition, or take it as seriously as he did.

Judges Sharon Osbourne and Simon Cowell praised his energetic performance of Hard to Handle.

Osbourne told him: "On entertainment value alone you should win this show."

And Cowell told the BBC DJ: "You've brought exactly the right attitude to this show - you tried your best, been competitive and you bring a sense of fun.

"You have my vote for the final."

The celebrity contestants are raising money for charity by appearing on the show.
