Court to rule on Clooney's movie
George Clooney
Syriana was a story about oil, politics and international finance
A Paris court is to rule on whether the producers of the political thriller Syriana stole the storyline from a French writer.

Warner Brothers and the production company of actor George Clooney are being sued by Stephanie Vergniault.

She claims the film resembles a project she was working on in 2004. She is demanding two million euros (£1.37m) and 35% of Syriana's profits.

The film-makers have denied the allegations of plagiarism.

They have said their work bears no similarity to that of Ms Vergniault.

Directed by Stephen Gaghan and starring Clooney, Syriana was a story about Middle Eastern oil, US politics and international finance.

The film, which opened last year, saw Clooney pick up the best supporting academy award.

The ruling in the plagiarism suit will be delivered on 19 June.
