Former BBC Radio 1 DJ Bruno Brookes is recovering after suffering a heart attack earlier this week.
The 47-year-old, who hosted the station's chart show during the 1980s and 1990s, has been treated at St Thomas' Hospital in central London.
A spokeswoman for Brookes said: "He felt unwell on Wednesday and called an ambulance, which took him to hospital where he had some tests."
She added he was due to be released from hospital this weekend.
Brookes, who smokes, appeared on BBC One's City Hospital documentary programme, which follows life at St Thomas'.
He told presenter Nadia Sawalha: "I suppose I knew it was a matter of time before something like this happened."
He added he would now try to give up smoking. "I know that is very much part and parcel of why I am here today," he said.
Brookes is currently chief executive of Immedia Broadcasting, which supplies in-store radio broadcasts for retailers.
