Friday, October 29, 1999 Published at 14:23 GMT 15:23 UK Entertainment Charlotte in the driving seat ![]() A scene from Charlotte's forthcoming Ford commercial Teenage singing sensation Charlotte Church will take another step on the road to international stardom when she appears in a global TV commercial for the car giant Ford next week. The advert, which Ford executives think could reach an audience of one billion when it debuts on 1 November, will last a lengthy two minutes.
She said: "It's an amazing song and commercial - and for Ford to use Just Wave Hello as part of this ad is cool." The ad, shot in nine countries by agency J Walter Thompson, will showcase all seven of Ford's brands which now include Jaguar, Aston Martin and Volvo. Among the images are a war veteran riding in a Ford Mustang convertible in a homecoming parade, an Italian couple embracing in front of a Volvo, a well-dressed woman putting her sleek dogs in the back seat of a Jaguar and Japanese girls playing in cherry blossom near a Mazda. The ad will run on 38 different networks in the US alone, including major broadcasters ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox.
Charlotte is already well on course for international stardom. She was signed by Sony Music in 1997 after she was spotted on a TV talent show. Her debut album Voice Of An Angel has sold more than two million copies worldwide and has made her the youngest ever solo artist to enter the American Top 30 album chart. So far ths year she has presented one of the prizes at the MTV Video Music Awards in New York and sung for President Clinton. She also closed the inaugural Children's Proms in Hyde Park, London, and signed to appear in an episode of the popular US TV series Touched By An Angel.
