Italian opera star Luciano Pavarotti has scrapped eight concerts on his farewell tour because of a back injury.
Pavarotti has been planning his retirement for several years
The 70-year-old will not be performing again until 3 June, when he is scheduled to play in Canada.
Portugal, Brazil, Bosnia and Chile are among the countries which Pavarotti will miss as he undergoes treatment in New York.
His farewell tour has so far lasted more than a year, with no definite final date yet given.
Three Tenors reunited
The Portugal concert, which was set for 21 April, has been rescheduled for 29 September. No other rescheduled dates have been announced.
"He is currently in New York undergoing treatment for a painful condition in his lower back," said a spokeswoman for Pavarotti.
"Specialists have advised him not to travel or perform until they have completed this treatment, which will be at the end of May."
Pavarotti recently said he hopes to reunite with his Three Tenors co-stars with Jose Carreras and Placido Domingo before he retires.
The trio had been due to perform together last year but Pavarotti pulled out after contracting a throat infection.
Pavarotti said he wants to retire at 70 to spend more time with his partner, Nicoletta Mantovani, and their young daughter.
