Monday, October 25, 1999 Published at 14:10 GMT Entertainment Pet Shop Boys reassure fans ![]() Pet Shop Boys: New look for their new tour and album Pop duo The Pet Shop Boys are still planning to bring their first world tour in eight years to the UK - despite the financial problems of original promoter Harvey Goldsmith. Their British dates had been in doubt ever since receivers were called in to Harvey Goldsmith Entertainments Limited at the end of September.
Tennant and Lowe have now teamed up with SFX Entertainment, the world's largest promoter and venue operator which recently took control of a string of British venues. The Pet Shop Boys have also issued a winding-up petition against HGEL, which is looking for new backers. "We're excited with this show which we've been working on for the last few months and we don't want to disappoint the thousands of fans who have already bought tickets," said Tennant. "This is our first world tour for eight years and it would be absurd if business complications prevented it coming to Britain. "We're just going to have to be philosophical about the money we've lost as a result." The band will have played 50 shows by the time the Nightlife Tour winds up at Wembley Arena on December 20. The tour kicked off in Miami on October 20. Their last world concert tour, dubbed Performance, was in 1991 - at the height of their success when hits such as West End Girls, and It's A Sin were topping the charts.
