Mathis making UK concert comeback

Singer Johnny Mathis is to perform his first concerts in the UK for 12 years.

Mathis, whose best-known songs include 1976 Christmas chart-topper When A Child Is Born, will play London, Manchester and Birmingham in September.

The 70-year-old singer from the US is marking his 50th year as a recording artist this year. His first UK hit was Teacher Teacher in 1958.

Mathis' Very Best of album reached number six in the UK charts earlier this year, his first hit since 1983.
