Singer Pete Doherty faces another court appearance on drugs charges in two weeks because the prosecution case against him is not yet ready.

The 26-year-old attended a hearing in east London to face seven counts of possessing controlled drugs.

However, he was told that the case would be adjourned until 23 March.

After leaving the court, Mr Doherty reaffirmed his love for his former girlfriend Kate Moss, scrawling "I love Kate 4 eva" on his gold Jaguar car.

He had sprinted across a road to avoid photographers before diving into the vehicle and writing the phrase with a marker pen.

The car was not displaying a tax disc.

In court, Doherty was wearing a light blue military jacket and removed his trademark trilby to confirm his home address.

He is accused of carrying heroin, crack cocaine, cannabis resin and cannabis last December, and of possessing heroin, crack cocaine and cannabis a month later.

This is Doherty's second court appearance in two days.

Yesterday, he faced a review of a 12-month community order imposed on him in February, when he was sentenced for seven other counts of possessing controlled drugs.

The judge at that hearing was told that Doherty had been making "positive progress" in his fight against drug addiction.
