Former child actor Brad Renfro has pleaded no contest to a charge of drink driving, after being arrested in Los Angeles in November last year.
Brad Renfro made his film debut in The Client aged 12
The 23-year-old was immediately taken to jail to begin serving a 10-day sentence after Wednesday's hearing.
The judge also fined Renfro $450 (£259), ordered him to take alcohol education classes for 18 months and serve five years' probation.
Renfro starred with Susan Sarandon in the film The Client when he was 12.
He has since appeared in a number of films, including Tom and Huck, Ghost World and The Jacket.
Renfro was arrested on 24 November for investigation of driving under the influence of alcohol.
The following month, he was taken into custody after a drug sting in Los Angeles poor Skid Row district.
Renfro pleaded guilty on 23 February to attempted possession of heroin, and earlier this week he was ordered to enter a drug rehabilitation program.
He must return to court on 4 April for a progress report in the drug case.
