Oscars panel: Debra Tysall

Oscar is nearly with us, there are billboards all over town, its hard not to get caught up in all the excitement.

Debra Tysall
Name: Debra Tysall
Lives: British but live in Los Angeles
Occupation: Several jobs, used to be a chef
Favourite all-time film: Shawshank Redemption with LA Confidential also up there

My favourite movie of the last year, The Constant Gardener, did not get a best picture nomination, which leads me to believe many voters didn't actually see the movie.

However, I am really hoping that at least Rachel Weisz gets to win for best supporting actress, although why she didn't get nominated for best actress is a mystery to me.

I think Crash will pick up the best screenplay award, and possibly Matt Dillon might just get it for best supporting actor, although I have a sneaking suspicion it's going to be Paul Giamatti, who really was great in Cinderella Man.

Although I really enjoyed Brokeback Mountain, I am not as enamoured of it as some, but I think it will get either best picture or best director, the latter I think would be more deserving.

What can I say about Wallace and Gromit, they are a national treasure as far as I am concerned, and Nick Park should be knighted immediately for his services to animation! Is there enough room on his mantel for another statuette, I wonder!
