Soccer soap Footballers' Wives has scored a hit with critics in the US, where the programme is being broadcast on BBC America.
Footballers' Wives has been hailed for its raunchy storylines
TV critics have likened the ITV show to Dallas, and have hailed the character Tanya Turner - played by Zoe Lucker - as the UK's answer to JR Ewing.
The programme has even been compared favourably to the Golden Globe-winning hit Desperate Housewives.
The third series of Footballers' Wives started in the US on Sunday night.
It has been promoted with an advert showing Tanya in front of a football net full of naked players.
TV Guide magazine said of the series: "It makes Dallas look staid", adding: "Tanya is Britain's female answer to JR Ewing."
And the San Francisco Chronicle said: "It makes competitors - namely Desperate Housewives - seem dowdy and creaky by comparison."
