Locklear divorces Bon Jovi member

Locklear and Sambora have been married for 11 years

Former Dynasty star Heather Locklear is to divorce Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora after 11 years of marriage.

"This is a private matter and there will be no further statement at this time," said her publicist CeCe Yorke.

Locklear - who was previously married to Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee - and Sambora were married in 1994 and have an eight-year-old daughter called Ava.

According to court papers filed in Los Angeles, the couple are separating due to irreconcilable differences.

'Happily married'

The announcement comes two months after the pair released a public statement denying reports their marriage was in trouble.

"The real story is that there is no story," they said in a joint statement to the New York Daily News.

"The truth is that after 11 years together, we are still happily married. Boring but true."

Locklear first rose to prominence as Sammy Jo Dean Carrington in the 1980s soap Dynasty.

She subsequently appeared on Melrose Place and the sitcom Spin City, for which she was twice nominated for a Golden Globe.
