Babyshambles singer Pete Doherty has been arrested in east London on suspicion of possessing Class A drugs.
He was held after stopping his car for police, who had been attempting to flag down a car behind him in Hackney.
Doherty "behaved in a manner that caught officers' attention" and was held on suspicion of possessing drugs and driving under their influence.
The latter allegation was dropped. He was bailed until 2 February as police examine the substances seized.
Court appearance
A Scotland Yard spokeswoman said: "Police indicated to a vehicle to stop and another vehicle also stopped in front."
Police spoke to, but did not arrest, the driver of the first vehicle during Saturday's incident.
Doherty's arrest occurred days after he pleaded guilty in a London court to possession of Class A drugs.
He appeared at Ealing Magistrates' Court last Wednesday to face charges of possessing heroin and cocaine, after his arrest in west London on 30 November.
The 26-year-old singer is due to reappear at the court on that charge on 8 February.
The court had also heard that Doherty was due to return to Stoke Newington police station in relation to a separate allegation of possessing "small amounts" of drugs.
The former Libertines singer has frequently been the subject of media attention over his drug abuse and his relationship with model Kate Moss.
