DJ and producer Mark Spoon, half of dance music duo Jam and Spoon, has died aged 39.
The influential German DJ was found dead in his Berlin apartment after a suspected heart attack.
He formed Jam and Spoon with Jam El Mar, having a 1995 hit with Right in the Night (Fall in Love With Music).
They remixed songs by artists including Pet Shop Boys and Moby. As a promoter Spoon, real name Markus Loffel, discovered Europop star Dr Alban.
Transatlantic hit
Spoon began his career as a record label manager and nightclub owner, helping to discover new talent in Frankfurt.
Jam and Spoon's debut album Tripomatic Fairytales became a transatlantic hit in 1993.
From 1995 the pair recorded under the name Tokyo Ghetto Pussy, creating dancefloor hits I Kiss Your Lips, Everybody On The Floor (Pump It) and You Make Me Feel.
Spoon died on Wednesday, record company Universal Music confirmed.
