White witch Mary O'Leary has become the first person to be evicted from the Big Brother house this year.

The 31-year-old was favourite to go in the public vote battle against hairdresser Craig Coates.

The pair were nominated by fellow housemate Makosi Musambasi, who won the right to pick those who would be facing the first eviction.

Ladbrokes said Mary's popularity had "plummeted" after she refused to wear a microphone and kept criticising others.

On Thursday, she said: "I want to leave. Everybody disgusts me. I'm not a wannabe. There is no intellectual conversation in here and I need it."

Craig, 20, an outspoken salon owner from Norfolk, had originally been tipped to be voted out.

Mary, 31, from London, sported a cape and broomstick on last week's launch show. She says she is psychic and claims to have been abducted by aliens seven times.

Male belly dancer Kemal Shahin is still favourite to win the 11-week show's 100,000 prize.

Thirteen contestants entered the Big Brother house on 27 May in the sixth series of the Channel 4 reality show.
