Elton 'wedding' document revealed
Sir Elton John and David Furnish's civil partnership certificate

The civil partnership certificate of Sir Elton John and his partner David Furnish has been released.

The couple "married" on 22 December at the Windsor Guildhall followed by a lavish reception at their home, attended by a host of celebrities.

The document shows that the pair's mothers were called as witnesses during the ceremony.

Sir Elton, 58, was listed as a musician on the certificate while Furnish's occupation was stated as film-maker

It also shows Sir Elton's middle name is Hercules, which he adopted when he changed it by deed poll from Reginald Kenneth Dwight.

Under the heading condition, it states Sir Elton's previous marriage to Renate Blaul was dissolved. He married the German recording engineer in 1984 but they later divorced.

While the civil partnership ceremony was low-key, with just both sets of parents attending, the evening celebrations saw more than 700 people descend on the couple's Old Windsor mansion.

Among the guests were Victoria Beckham, Elizabeth Hurley, Sir Michael Caine, Sharon Stone and Ringo Starr.
