Carey grabs US festive number one
Mariah Carey
Carey has had a successful year in the US charts
Singer Mariah Carey has this year's American Christmas number one single, the 17th of her career.

The success of Don't Forget About Us means Carey ties with Elvis Presley for second place among artists with number one hits in the rock era.

It has taken 15 years for Carey to achieve her 17 number ones. Her first was 1990's Vision of Love.

Carey and Presley are second only to the Beatles, who have had 20 number one hits on America's Billboard chart.

Don't Forget About Us is Carey's second US number one this year, following in the footsteps of ballad We Belong Together.

It replaced Chris Brown's Run It! at the top of the chart.
