Doctor Who actor Christopher Eccleston is to appear in a movie about love and obsession after quitting his role in the relaunched sci-fi series.
Eccleston has signed up to star in British film Double Life, about a man who thinks he loves twin sisters.
The film will be directed by Joe Ahearne, who has directed two episodes of the new series of Doctor Who.
Actor David Tennant is replacing Eccleston in Doctor Who, which has proved a success since its return.
Eccleston's new film, which was announced at the Cannes film festival, will be set in Budapest and is being produced by author Lynda La Plante's company Cougar Films.
Horror flick
Eccleston, 41, has previously starred in movies Shallow Grave, Elizabeth and Jude.
Meanwhile, former Brookside actress Jennifer Ellison has landed her first lead role in a movie.
The 21-year-old will star opposite Dexter Fletcher in the horror film The Cottage, which has secured funding from the UK Film Council.
Ellison had a small part in the big screen adaptation of Phantom of the Opera, and was the winner of the celebrity series of Hell's Kitchen.
