Two actresses from US TV drama Lost have been charged with drink-driving following separate incidents.

Michelle Rodriguez - Ana Lucia in the series - and Cynthia Watros, who plays Libby, were stopped on the same road in Hawaii within 15 minutes of each other.

They were both charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and released on $500 (288) bail each. They must each attend court on 29 December.

Both women joined the second series of the drama, which is filmed in Hawaii.

The actresses were stopped in separate cars in the early hours of Friday after their vehicles were spotted by police weaving on a road in Kailua.

A spokesman for Lost was unavailable for comment.

The castaway show was named outstanding drama series at this year's Emmy Awards.

Six million UK viewers watched the first episode of Lost on Channel 4, with the first episode of the second series attracting a US audience of 23.4 million to ABC in September.

It is the second time stars of the show have hit headlines in recent weeks.

Actor Josh Holloway - who plays Sawyer - and his wife Yessica were robbed at gunpoint at their Honolulu home in October.

A man was later arrested in connection with the robbery.
