Sergio Pizzorno (left) needed six stitches for a head injury
The guitarist with rock band Kasabian has been treated for a head wound after being struck by a bottle while performing at a concert in Glasgow.

The event at the city's Academy was cut short as Sergio Pizzorno received six stitches for his injury.

The musician fell to the ground after the bottle was thrown by a member of the audience.

The Brit Award nominees were scheduled to play in Manchester on Sunday night as part of a UK tour.

Pizzorno, 23, was told by a doctor that he would be unable to continue with the concert.

Top ten singles

"It's such a shame the actions of one person put an end to our best gig all year," he said, and thanked Glasgow fans for their support.

Pizzorno, who also writes the band's songs, urged fans of the band to "throw bras and knickers from now on".

The four-piece band, who come from Leicester, enjoyed their first chart hit with Club Foot in May of last year.

The group have since scored two top ten singles, while their debut self-titled album reached number four for the second time in January.

Kasabian gained three Brit nominations including best group, but were unable to convert them into trophies.

They are scheduled to go on tour with Oasis to the US and Canada in September, playing 13 dates.
