Franz showcase new songs online
Franz Ferdinand arrive at the NME Awards 2005 at Hammersmith Palais
Franz Ferdinand won two Brit Awards earlier this year
Rock band Franz Ferdinand are to give fans a glimpse of their second album as they are recording it as part of a video diary on their website.

The Brit Award winners will post diary entries as they work on the follow-up to their self-titled 2004 debut.

"Fans will have access to the recording process and witness the band creating their new songs," a statement said.

Earlier this month, the band played four new songs at their first live show of 2005 at the Royal Albert Hall.

They are reported to be recording in Scotland and planning an autumn release. Singer Alex Kapranos told NME the new songs would be "less cold" and "darker".

The statement added: "It's likely the band will use the online diaries to release exclusive tracks from their new album, ahead of the official release date."
