Snowdon offered Margaret preview
Lucy Coku and Toby Stephens in The Queen's Sister
Lucy Coku and Toby Stephens play the Princess and Lord Snowdon
Lord Snowdon has been offered a private view of a controversial TV drama about his ex-wife Princess Margaret, Channel 4 has said.

But the broadcaster said the peer - played by Toby Stephens in the film - has not responded to the invitation.

The Queen's Sister - to be shown on 27 November - shows the Princess taking drugs, having sex, and engaging in a lesbian kiss.

Channel 4 said there had been no response from Buckingham Palace.

"The people in the film have already seen themselves portrayed in various ways," said executive producer Rob Pursey.

'Complicated'

Pursey said the Queen did not feature in the film because she was "too iconic".

However, Prince Philip - played by Shameless actor David Threlfall - figures prominently.

In one scene he is shown telling the future Earl of Snowdon that while royal duties can be "tiresome", "there is always some striking totty about".

Writer Craig Warner said he had attempted to depict the late Princess as a "complicated heroine".
