The La's reform for UK concerts

Guitar band The La's, who had a 1990 hit with There She Goes, have reformed to play a string of UK concerts for the first time in more than a decade.

The Liverpool band split after releasing one album, with founder member John Power going on to form Britpop band Cast.

The La's will play Sheffield's Leadmill, Manchester's Ritz and London's Shepherds Bush Empire in June.

They will then play Japan's Summer Sonic festival in Tokyo in August.

International success

The La's were formed in 1986 by Power, lead guitarist Lee Mavers, guitarist Paul Hemmings and drummer John Timson.

There She Goes became a UK and US hit and was subsequently covered by Robbie Williams and Sixpence None the Richer.

The band split after disagreements about their second album, however, with bassist Power forming Cast in 1995 and having 11 chart hits including Finetime, Alright and Walkaway.

Cast split in 1999 and Power released a solo album in 2003. He will be reunited onstage with Mavers and joined by musicians Jay Lewis and Nick Miniski.
