Rivers will a voice a character alongside comedian and writer Mel Brooks as Wiley the Sheep.

The show's core theme is storytelling and grandparent and grandchild bonding.

It follows the adventures of a young pig and his friends Dannan the Duck and Ferny the Bull.

Set in the 1950s, the Emmy-winning programme aimed at children aged four to seven is shown in 19 countries.

"We are thrilled that Joan Rivers is joining the Jakers! team in this new role," said Daniel Isman, from the programme's creators Entara.

"The series is about building inter-generational relationships through storytelling and who better to relate this story than two showbiz veterans, Joan Rivers and Mel Brooks?"
