Sharif sued over 'racial abuse'

Actor Omar Sharif is being sued for allegedly using racial abuse against a parking attendant in Los Angeles.

Juan Anderson has filed a legal action against the Lawrence of Arabia star for allegedly calling him a "stupid Mexican" and punching him.

His lawyer, John Carpenter, said the incident happened outside a restaurant in June in a dispute over payment.

Mr Carpenter said the actor's behaviour had "violated the California hate crimes statute".
