Noel Gallagher of Oasis
Oasis will release their sixth full studio album on 30 May
Oasis are to headline this year's V Festival, with acts including Maroon 5, Embrace, Joss Stone, Ian Brown and Athlete also added to the line-up.

They will join Franz Ferdinand and the Scissor Sisters, who had already been named on the bill for the event in Chelmsford and Staffordshire in August.

Oasis' appearance will follow a European and US tour in June and July.

Their new single Lyla will be released on 16 May, followed by an album, Don't Believe The Truth, two weeks later.

They will headline the V Festival in Hylands Park, Chelmsford, on 20 August before moving to Weston Park, Staffordshire, the following day.

Other names added to the festival's bill on Tuesday included Led Zeppelin legend Robert Plant, Texas, The Zutons, Jet, Kaiser Chiefs and The Bravery.

They will be joined by Dizzee Rascal, Goldie Lookin' Chain, Doves and The Music.
