Live TV comeback for Chris Evans

Presenter Chris Evans is to make his TV comeback hosting a live Sunday evening talk show on ITV1.

The former Don't Forget Your Toothbrush host will present and produce the show - tentatively titled Oh No It's Sunday - later this year.

He will be joined by special guests to discuss the "weird and wonderful highlights of the week gone by".

Claudia Rosencrantz, ITV1's controller of entertainment, said: "I'm delighted Chris is back hosting his own show."

Ms Rosencrantz added: "We got him back on air earlier this year for The Brits 2005 and it's wonderful that he's now returning to host his own show again."

Evans, who split from his wife, Doctor Who star Billie Piper, last year, said the ITV show would confirm "the nuttiness of Planet Earth and the people who live in it".

Radio slot

Evans, 38, one of the UK's most celebrated but unpredictable broadcasting talents, disappeared from the limelight after being sacked as Virgin Radio's breakfast host in 2001.

He has hosted a string of one-off radio shows in recent months, including Radio 2's Live 8 coverage, bank holiday specials for the station and UK Radio Aid for commercial stations in aid of tsunami relief.

The former Channel 4 presenter also hosted the Brit Awards in February.

As well as his new TV show, Evans will return to a regular radio slot on BBC Radio 2 from Saturday.

ITV's director of programmes Nigel Pickard said: "It remains a core objective for ITV to bring the biggest names and talent to our viewers across all parts of the schedule.

"I'm therefore thrilled that Chris is working with us on this exciting new project."
