Singer Gloria Estefan is leading a group of Hispanic-American stars to visit victims of Hurricane Katrina in Louisiana and Mississippi on Monday.
Gloria Estefan has organised the trip with husband Emilio
Actors Jimmy Smits and Andy Garcia and trumpeter Arturo Sandoval will also make the trip, accompanying a plane full of supplies and toys.
"I am privileged to help in some way," said Estefan, who is Cuban-American.
"The separation of families to me is very close to my heart because we lived that as immigrants."
They are expected to visit shelters in Long Beach and Biloxi in Mississippi and Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and will stress the importance of donating blood.
Singer Jon Secada and television personalities Daisy Fuentes and Don Francisco will also join the trip.
"I strongly feel that we are all connected," said Estefan, who organised the trip with husband Emilio.
"Having felt people's love and support first hand through difficult moments in my life makes me feel it's our responsibility to help one another."
American Red Cross president Marsha J Evans said: "Responding to the needs created by this disaster will take the energy and creativity of all of us.
"We at the Red Cross are so grateful that the Estefans have taken it upon themselves to create this marvellous effort."
