Shatners planned to divorce
The scene outside the Shatners' home on Monday
Star Trek actor William Shatner had recently reconciled with his wife - who drowned in their pool earlier this week - after filing for divorce last year.

Nedine Shatner, 40, was found by her husband in the deep end of the pool at the couple's home in Los Angeles on Monday evening.

He tried in vain to resuscitate Nadine, who he married in November 1997.

Nedine and William Shatner: Had planned to divorce
Her agent, Pam Loar, said Shatner, 68, had filed for divorce in October 1998 citing irreconcilable differences.

They had separated that month, but it was not clear if Shatner had intended to proceed with the divorce. They had since reconciled, according to Loar.

She said: "She was like a comet, very bright, very vivacious, the biggest heart you could come across."

An autopsy was held on Wednesday, but coroners have it could be weeks before they determine the official cause of death.

The Los Angeles coroners' office said toxicology tests could take some days to process.

Police said her drowning appeared to be accidental and foul play was not suspected.
