Drug charge for R&B star D'Angelo
US R&B singer D'Angelo has been charged with drink driving and drug possession at a police traffic stop in Virginia.

Marijuana and cocaine were found in the Grammy Award-winning performer's car in a subsequent search.

D'Angelo - real name Michael Archer - will appear in court in the city of Richmond on 18 January.

He was awarded a Grammy for best male R&B vocal performance in 2000 for Untitled (How Does It Feel) from the album Voodoo.

Police added that the substances discovered in the 30-year-old's car will be analysed.

D'Angelo will have to answer to one charge of possessing marijuana, one of possessing a controlled substance and drink driving when he appears in court.
