Housewives actress injured on set
Eva Longoria
Longoria's accident was not expected to delay filming
Desperate Housewives actress Eva Longoria has been hit on the head by a falling pole while filming the series.

Longoria, who plays ex-model Gabrielle Solis in the show, was not seriously hurt after being "bumped on the head" on set in Pasadena, California.

The 30-year-old actress was treated and released from a nearby hospital on the same day, her spokeswoman said.

US show Desperate Housewives received 15 Emmy nominations and its series final attracted 4.1 million UK viewers.

The accident was not expected to delay filming on the show's second series.

Suburban drama Desperate Housewives has been US network ABC's top-rated show, attracting 22.8 million viewers.

The show's popularity in its Sunday night slot has led organisers of the Golden Globe film awards to move its traditional Sunday ceremony to a Monday next year, to avoid losing viewers to Desperate Housewives.
