A woman is suing Kiss rock star Gene Simmons for slander, alleging a documentary made her out to be a "sex-addicted nymphomaniac".

Georgeann Walsh Ward, 53, of New York, said during a VH1 documentary her photo was flashed up as Simmons talked about his past sexual encounters.

She alleges this portrayed her as "wild" and "unchaste".

Ms Walsh Ward says she dated Simmons for three years when she was 21 and he was a college student.

She added that as far as she was aware she was in a monogamous relationship with him.

She is seeking damages from Simmons and Viacom, the parent company of VH1, for defamation and invasion of privacy.

During the documentary, which has been screened several times, Simmons boasts of having sex with 4,600 women.

"There wasn't a girl that was off limits, and I enjoyed every one of them," he is shown saying.
