R&B star leads Soul awards list

Ciara had a number one hit in the UK with Goodies

R&B newcomer Ciara is leading the Soul Train Lady of Soul Awards shortlist with five nominations.

Her song 1, 2 Step - featuring Missy Elliott - led to nominations for best new artist, music video and dance cut.

The R&B star's album Goodies was cited for best R&B/soul album, while the title track will be up for song of the year at the 7 September ceremony.

Singer Amerie, American Idol champion Fantasia and R&B trio Destiny's Child have four nominations each.
