The summer music festival season has kicked off in earnest with the Isle of Wight and Download events, attracting more than 75,000 visitors between them.
The three-day Isle of Wight event sees REM, Faithless, and Travis perform at Seaclose Park, Newport.
Travis have stepped in at the last minute to replace Morrissey.
Black Sabbath, System of a Down and Motorhead are among more than 90 acts performing at Download at Donnington Park in Derbyshire.
Billy Idol, Therapy? and Napalm Death are headlining the three stages over the weekend.
The festival is known for its heavy rock line-up, attracting metal bands from around the world.
A total of 45,000 people have tickets to camp over the three-day festival, with more entering the site with day tickets. Organisers says some day tickets are still available at the site.
Festival revival
Some 100 people have already been treated for minor injuries at the Donington Park venue, according to St John Ambulance.
This is the fourth Isle of Wight festival since it was relaunched in 2002, more than 30 years after the island hosted the legendary 1960s events. All 30,000 camping and day tickets sold out.
This year, the event has grown to include other attractions away from the stages, including an extreme sports village, children's area and Bollywood cocktail bar.
Both festivals run until Sunday.
