Tenor di Stefano hurt in attack
Kenyan coast
The singer had been at his villa in Kenya
Italian tenor Giuseppe di Stefano, 83, is being treated in intensive care in Kenya after being attacked by unknown assailants last week.

The singer and his wife were attacked in their car on Tuesday as they left their villa in Diani, about 440km southeast of Nairobi, police said.

Alex Rono, the area's senior police officer, would not discuss di Stefano's injuries or any other details.

The singer has been described by Luciano Pavarotti as "the maestro".

He is also famous for his duets with Maria Callas.
