Bridget Jones sequel stays on top

Hollywood actress Renee Zellweger returns as the eponymous Bridget
Hit sequel Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason has topped the UK and Ireland box office for the second week.

Adapted from Helen Fielding's follow-up to the best-seller Bridget Jones's Diary, it took 5.04m over the weekend.

The Grudge, a Japanese horror remake starring Sarah Michelle Gellar, stayed at number two taking 800,277.

New entries to the top ten included After The Sunset, starring Pierce Brosnan, at number three and The Manchurian Candidate at number four.

The Manchurian Candidate stars Meryl Streep as an ambitious senator and Denzel Washington as a Gulf War veteran, seeking the truth about a presidential candidate.

Directed by Silence of the Lambs' Jonathan Demme, the film - a remake of the 1962 film starring Frank Sinatra - has received mixed reviews from critics.

Also new to the top 10 is Taxi, a comedy thriller based on Luc Besson's 1998 screenplay and starring Queen Latifah.

Dreamworks animated underwater comedy, slumped to number eight after six weeks in the chart, ahead of Bad Santa and Finding Neverland at number ten.

The Incredibles, the latest animated film from Pixar - creators of Finding Nemo - entered the chart at number 12, despite a very limited first release.
