Belushi takes neighbour to court
James Belushi
James Belushi has starred in a number of films
Actor James Belushi is suing his neighbour, actress Julie Newmar, over an alleged "campaign of harassment" to drive him out of his Los Angeles home.

Belushi has accused Newmar - who played Catwoman in the 1960s TV series Batman - of vandalising his estate.

The 50-year-old star also said in court papers she spied on his family and played loud music.

The lawsuit is seeking an injunction against the actress as well as damages of $4m (2.15m), plus costs.

The lawsuit, which was filed on 2 November, said : "Newmar has engaged in a malicious and premeditated campaign to prevent and destroy Belushi's quiet peace."

It accuses Newmar of destroying a fence and landscaping on the actor's estate and that she bad-mouthed him to neighbours and friends.

In seeking damages, the lawsuit states that Newmar's actions caused emotional distress to Belushi as well as harming his reputation and career.

Newmar was not available for comment.
