Mini-series plan for 9/11 report
The 9/11 Commission Report
The report has become a surprise bestseller
Two TV channels are planning to turn the official inquiry into the 9/11 terrorist attacks into a mini-series.

ABC and NBC are looking into dramatising the circumstances leading up to and including the attacks on the World Trade Centre and the Pentagon.

The 567-page 9/11 Commission report into the attacks has gone on to sell more than one million copies.

NBC has recruited the producer behind the acclaimed war series Band of Brothers to work on the project.

'Seminal event'

Meanwhile, ABC said it has a similar project in the works, also using the report as source material.

Stephen McPherson, ABC entertainment president, said: "We feel an incredible responsibility with this material.

"If we can't do it at the highest level, then we won't do it."

NBC entertainment president Kevin Reilly said he saw its project as a "seminal event for television".

He said: "The fact that the 9/11 report is a bestseller is indicative of not only its importance but also the way in which the story of the events is laid out in a clean narrative fashion.

"That is what we expect to do with this mini-series."
