Singer Courtney Love has been admitted to hospital hours after a judge issued an arrest warrant for her when she failed to attend a court hearing.
Love was due to face an assault charge at LA's Superior Court
Love was taken to a New York hospital on Friday, her 40th birthday, for an unspecified gynaecological problem.
"She is conscious and in stable condition," her lawyer Michael Rosenstein said.
Love had been due to face an assault charge at Los Angeles Superior Court after allegedly attacking a woman.
The charge of assault with a deadly weapon arose after an alleged attack at the Los Angeles home of Love's ex-boyfriend and ex-manager Jim Barber in April.
A warrant for Love's arrest was issued on Friday after she failed to appear for an arraignment on the charge.
Her lawyer said Love had been confused about whether her presence was required in the California case.
"I don't understand the confusion, Mr Rosenstein," replied Commissioner Dennis Mulcahy. "You are here. Why isn't she?"
Love's previous $55,000 (£29,570) bail was forfeited, and Mr Mulcahy said she would be arrested when she returned to California.
Her lawyer said Love's treatment at Manhattan's Bellevue Hospital was "not drug-related".

In May, Love pleaded guilty in an unrelated case to being under the influence of cocaine when she was arrested outside Barber's home in October. She faces sentencing on Friday (16 July) in that case.
The ex-Hole singer also faces separate drug possession charges in Beverly Hills and a reckless endangerment charge in New York.
