Comic Crystal to star on Broadway
Comedian Billy Crystal is to make his Broadway debut in November with a one-man show called 700 Sundays.

"I've never been as excited about anything since I starting working in this play," the 57-year-old said.

The play features many characters from his childhood and teenage years, and marks his stage return after 16 years.

The title comes from Crystal's memories of his workaholic father, who only spent time with his family on Sundays, and who died when Crystal was only 15.


EastEnders star's sport challenge

EastEnders' Nigel Harman will compete alongside Pop Idol's Pete Waterman and quiz host Richard Whiteley in a charity special of sports show Superstars.

Harman - Dennis Rickman in the soap - will lead a BBC team including political journalist Andrew Marr and children's show host Fearne Cotton.

Pop Idol judge Waterman will captain the ITV team, and Whitely heads the Channel 4 team for Sport Relief.

Quentin Wilson will head a Channel Five team. It will be on BBC One on 10 July.


Olsen twin pulls trip for sister

US teen star Ashley Olsen has cancelled a trip to Australia to be with her twin sister Mary-Kate, who is unwell.

"Ashley Olsen has decided to be with her family at this time," the head of the twins' Dualstar Entertainment Group said on Thursday.

Mary-Kate has entered a medical facility "to seek professional help for a health-related issue", her spokesman had said on Tuesday.

The twin, who have appeared on TV and in films, are huge stars in the US.


Actor Affleck wins big at poker

Actor Ben Affleck won more than $350,000 (£192,000) at a poker tournament in California at the weekend.

The 31-year-old beat 90 other players - including actor Tobey Maguire - to take Commerce Casino's California State Poker Championship.

He won $356,400 (£196,115) after beating professional poker player Stan Goldstein on Sunday.

Affleck's win means he can take a place at the World Poker Tour Championship in Las Vegas next April.


Jungle TV show approaches Gazza

Ex-England footballer Paul Gascoigne has said he has been approached to appear on the next series of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!

He told BBC Radio 1 he had been offered one of the places in the last series, won by Kerry McFadden.

"I nearly did the one with Jordan and Peter Andre and all that, but I wasn't ready yet, I was only three months sober," the now tee-total star said.

"A year and a half ago I would have dived in, but I pick and choose now."


OutKast 'to star in HBO musical'

Rap duo OutKast, who scored a hit with Hey Ya!, are to star in the first musical made for US cable TV channel HBO, according to a report.

The $15m (£8.2m) musical will be directed by Bryan Barber, who made the videos for Hey Ya! and I Like the Way You Move, Variety magazine said.

The movie, which will have contemporary music married alongside period drama, is expected to be released in cinemas.

Most of the songs will be written by OutKast specifically for the project.
